PRIDE Fighting Championship is back! Well, don’t get us wrong. The show is not going to start afresh; but there is going to be a new series on Spike TV that features some of the most memorable matchups from this currently extinct promotion. The show is scheduled to debut on 15th January. It will be called “The Best of PRIDE” and will be on air each Friday at 10 p.m. ET/PT with replays throughout the week. The show will broadcast some handpicked matches from the video library that the parent company of UFC acquired during the purchase of the organization in 2007.

The show will be hosted by Maxim model Kenda Perez . Dana White stated in a recent interview that he loved the idea and is eager to know the fans’ reaction. Initially, UFC planned to continue the PRIDE Fighting Championship brand after the acquisition took place but the plan was later cancelled. UFC, however, didn’t let the brand name of PRIDE fade out completely. The PRIDE merchandise, that includes DVDs, apparels, T Shirts etc. are now available for the fans. They can collect their favorite PRIDE items through UFC and the brand has also hosted several PRIDE themed autograph sessions at different times throughout the year. PRIDE was a Japanese based organization that was once considered as one of the biggest MMA promotions in the world. Since its launch in 1997, the organization arranged 68 events in total and 2 of them drew more than 67,000 audiences each.
