Home » MMA News » Bellator Fighting Championship Signs Pitbull Freire

After a successful first season, Bellator Fighting Championship is back with a bang! The promotion has plans to make it even bigger and better this year and it seems they have already started the process. The newest signing for the second season of the promotion proves it all. Brazilian fighter Patricio “Pitbull” Freire (also known as Patricio Pitbull) has signed with the promotion this season in the championship’s featherweight division. The Bellator officials recently made a statement that this yet undefeated fighter with a bright career record of 12-0 will be one of the eight men in the featherweight tournament of the promotion.

The show will kick off in April. The season two tournaments of the promotion that includes the season one winners and new challengers will be aired live on FOX Sports Net affiliates with highlight packages on NBC and Telemundo. Casual MMA fans are not much aware of Freire; but he was a former member of once-popular Chute Boxe team and has been a sensational performer since his debut in 2004. Freire, along with Georgi Karakhanyan and William Romero; the recent additions to the Bellator roaster, can be a serious threat to the featherweight champion Joe Soto. This will be Freire’s U.S. debut and it will pay each winner nearly an amount of $200,000 over a 12-week period.
