Bisping May Replace Akiyama in UFC 110

UFC President Dana White hinted in a recent interview that there might be a change in the UFC 110 headliner. The main event match between Wanderlei Silva and Yoshihiro Akiyama may be scrapped and Silva may face a different competitor in that show. Soon after White’s statement, the critics assumed that perhaps Dana is planning to book UFC 105 winner Michael Bisping against Silva in UFC 10 that is going to take place in Sydney Australia on February 21st.

Dana White did not come clear yet about this particular change but also mentioned that a few changes will take place to the previous bookings. Carwin vs. Velasquez match which could have been a show-stealer cannot be booked for UFC’s Australian debut. The match starring Silva is therefore of prime importance now. UFC wants to book a sensational opponent against him. But Akiyama so far had very limited exposure in UFC and this might well be the reason to take him out from the previously announced match. Bisping, on the contrary, is now a popular face after his impressive second round TKO victory against Denis Kang t UFC 105 earlier this month. He has now won four out of his last five matches and three of them were straight knockouts. Once the match is finalized, this will be the most important booking so far for this “TUF 3” champion and who knows, we might expect a pleasant surprise in Australia soon.
