Chuck Liddell’s Retirement

So what about the Chuck Liddell’s retirement? Well, as of right now, everything is still unofficial. Some say he is going to stick around to continue fighting and some say he isn’t. What should be noted is the fact that Chuck Liddell is a 40 year old fighter. A fighter at such an age, taking consistent blows to the face and body parts, makes one thing for sure. You can’t continually sustain continued blows to the body and expect to not have any permanent damage. At least, that is what would happen if he continued fighting for a few more years. While he may be able to dish out some serious punishment, when it comes time to take a licking and keep on ticking, he falls short of the younger bucks. This is understandable, how could you expect him to? The Chuck Liddell’s premise is pretty simple. Keep knocking the crap out of guys until you meet too many that can dish the punishment back.

All in all, we think that Liddell is a commendable fighter and he should continue until his body says no more. But can Chuck make the decision for himself? No fighter wants to admit his time is up but somebody has to make the decision. It would be a shame to see a fighter get permanently disfigured in the ring simply because he ignored the closing bell of his career.

In fact, one of the latest recorded bouts provided Chris Leben with 95,000 dollars. So you see, taking a beating and living to tell the tale isn’t for free. We think that these fighters deserve the money and that every penny they get is equal to the risk they take in the ring. Imagine taking such a risk and not knowing whether or not you are going to come out without a disability. Every time these fighters get in the ring, they take the chance of losing an eye or getting punched in the throat. It’s a scary negotiation. The risk of your life versus cash and glory!
