It’s always difficult to forget your first love. Former Strikeforce middleweight champion Cung Le has proved it again. This former champ who had vacated his title to try his skills in acting has no plans of saying good bye to fighting as the superstar may return to action before the year ends. We have come to know from our reliable sources that Le has agreed verbally to fight against Scott Smith at “Strikeforce: Evolution” taking place on 19th December in San Jose, California.

Scott Coker, the CEO of Strikeforce has said during his interview that the main event at “Strikeforce: Evolution” is yet to be determined. Though there is much hype about the welterweight title match between Jay Hieron and Nick Diaz, it may not fit into the main event role. A clash between Smith and Le may be the ideal match that fits into the slot.

This is going to be Le’s first appearance in almost 21 months. This former superstar won six consecutive knockouts or TKO wins under the banner of Strikeforce before he vacated the title to focus on acting. His performance in “Pandorum,” “Tekken,” and “Fighting” took him further away from the sport. This 37 year old superstar has an astonishing 6-0 win record and never defended his belt. Smith, on the other hand, must be training harder after his submission loss against Nick Diaz. That 3 round fight caused Scott “Hands of Steel” Smith some serious damage and it was his 2nd consecutive defeat under Strikeforce banner. All eyes now will be on this yet to be declared match where both superstars will give their 100% to solidify their reputation.
