Fedor Emelianenko

fedor20emelianenkoFedor Vladimirovich Emelianenko is a popular heavyweight MMA performer who is Russian by nationality. He is presently MMA’s heavyweight champion of the World Alliance. Fedor is also the last PRIDE heavyweight champion of the world. Emelianenko has been considered by many as the best fighter in the heavyweight category in the world. He has retained this position for half a decade and he has been lauded for his efforts by several major publications and media sports giants like ESPN, The Fight Network, Orange County Register, the Houston Chronicle, and Sherdog.com, not to mention Inside MMA. Fedor has also been chosen as the greatest fighter ever and across every weight class by the panel of experts in the tele-show Inside MMA.

Fedor’s awesome enthusiasm and interest for fighting began with Judo and Sambo. After an initial training under Vasiliy Ivanovich Gavrilov, Fedor moved on to be trained under Vladimir Mihailovich Voronov who happens to be his current coach.

In the year 1997, Fedor Emelianenko had received the certification of a “Master of Sports” in Sambo as well as Judo on a purely official basis. This recognizition of his talents led him to become a part of the national team of Russia. The next year, in 1998, he won a bronze medal in the Judo Championship of Russia and he eventually started a serious study of striking with both his arms and legs. He started his training under the supervision of Coach Alexander Vasilievich Michkov. Emelianenko started to seriously compete in both combat Sambo and in mixed martial arts in 2000 right at the ripe age of 25 reportedly in order to earn. Emelianenko trains twice or thrice times a day in order to maintain as well as further improve his skills.
He is known to utilize a few basic training methods in order to keep himself fit and going. Fedor also runs twice a day and covers a total distance of 12–15 kilometers. Fedor is also a proponent of training on high altitudes and he also extensively travels to the Kislovodsk region of Russia along with his team one or two times each year in order to train on the high altitudes over there. Fedor’s team comprises of his grappling coach Voronov and Michkov his boxing coach along with his Muay Thai coach Ruslan Nagnibeda. The team also consists of a masseur, psychologist Oleg Neustroev, a doctor and his training partners Roman Zentsov and others.

The year 2005 saw Emelianenko paying attention in order to improving his kicking techniques. He has trained Muay Thai under the expert guidance of kick boxer Ernesto Hoost and has later added a Muay Thai coach in his team. Emelianenko recently has expressed his interest to train young athletes. Emelianenko competed again in the World Combat for the Sambo Championships. This time there was an overwhelming entry and there were a total of 780 representatives from 45 different nations. Fedor received a bye for the semifinals and this is where he made a Bulgarian fighter submit with a choke hold in 40 seconds. The other finalist didn’t compete and thus by default Fedor became victorious.

Recently in an interview Emelianenko said he doesn’t consider himself to be the world’s best pound-for-pound fighter. [He is reportedly said that he doesn’t consider to be the best and claims and accepts that he has a few weaknesses, he however strives to get better with every passing day. He also says that he does know that a lot of the media along with his horde of fans would proclaim him to be the best and he appreciates such kindness with immense humility. However if truth be told, he consider himself to be the best and he strives everyday to reach his goal.

    Fedor is th king of MMA. Too bad majority of people doesn’t even know who he is. Kimbo Slice is more popular than any MMA fighter. The loss of Fedor against Werdum is terrible for his career. He was trying to conquer the US market, against the UFC. Dana White will is loss to diminish his acheavment….
