Forrest Griffin was born on the first of July in the year 1979 in Columbus. Griffin is a well known American MMA who is currently involved in the various UFC promotions. Griffin is the Light Heavyweight Champ of UFC and is presently holding the numero uno position in the light heavyweight category of the world. He is also ranked first by the MMA Weekly. Forrest recently essayed the role of a coach in the well-known Tele- series named “The Ultimate Fighter”. This show airs on Spike TV. The then-UFC champion in the Light Heavyweight category was the Quinton Jackson. Reportedly, Jackson was defeated by Griffin for his championship at the UFC 86.
Forrest Griffin is a graduate from the Evans High School in Evans and he later graduated with a criminal justice and had a BA Degree in the same subject. Griffin also served as an officer of the law enforcement division. Griffin also later served the duties of a patrol officer. He left the law enforcement services later in order to fully pursue a career in MMA. Griffin first gained popularity after he took part in Spike TV the Ultimate Fighter. This was a MMA reality show. Later he faced absolute persuasion from Dana White to participate in the TV show. Forrest Griffin later faced Stephan Bonnar. Griffin soon made it to the finals and he defeated Bonnar. This win was achieved through a unanimous decision. This fight credited to Dana White and later was touted to be the “match with the most importance in the entire history of the UFC “. This was the fight which was credited to have brought the UFC in the limelight of the mainstream scenario. Griffin was given a certain six-figure contract in order to fight in UFC.
April 15th of 2006 saw Griffin take on his most tough opponent. He had a match against the former world’s light heavyweight champion namely, Tito Ortiz at the UFC 59. Griffin did famously lose thanks to a split decision that was simply controversial. Griffin won over all the fans that were present during the match. Griffin’s immense ability to stand up against all that Ortiz threw at him earned him a legion of fans. Griffin fought a match against Stephan Bonnar in the UFC 62. This was a dream rematch and was the sequel to the earlier enigmatic fight. Griffin did finally win by a unanimous decision. He swept off his opponent in all the three rounds. The match however wasn’t as amazing like their previous one but it was still a worthwhile watch. Griffin was defeated later by the UF 2 by Keith Jardine the semifinalist at the UFC 66. Griffin’s next match at the UFC 70 was versus Lyoto Machida but he couldn’t fight the match thanks to an infection in the staph. Later on, Griffin defeated his opponent Hector Ramirez in the UFC 72 in a match that took place in Northern Ireland. At the 76th UFC, Griffin fought Mauricio “Shogun” Rua the Middleweight Grand Prix champion.
At the time, Shogun was ranked the Numero Uno in the light heavyweight category. Griffin won the match and it has been since reported that he did require surgery after the completion of the fight. He did suffer from an injury to the shoulder after the match.
