Georges St-Pierre Now in the Under Armour Family
Who says UFC can’t assure the well being and glamour for their superstars? Ask Georges St-Pierre, the welterweight champion of UFC. He certainly thinks in a different manner as he has bragged a multiyear contract with Under Armour, a well known clothing and apparel brand. As per the agreement, St-Pierre will be their new face for the underwear line that will hit the stores in this upcoming holiday season. He will also promote the brand’s Recharge and ColdGear line that will begin early July 2010.
“It’s quite an honor for me”, said St-Pierre during meet the press session. He also said that he was an admirer of Under Armour apparels from the early days and to be their new face is like a “dream come true” for him. Steve Battista, the Senior Vice President (Brand) of Under Armour expressed his excitement about this new signing as well. He said he considers UFC as one of the fastest growing sports in the world and to sign a superstar of the game like Georges St-Pierre will surely add some extra value to their brand and products. He stated that once he came to know Georges is a fan of their products, he immediately brought him into the Under Armour family.
This deal, however, will make its place in history as this is the first ever incident where an MMA fighter has signed such a huge endorsement deal with a top rated brand. With this agreement, Georges St-Pierre has now joined the league of several top class athletes like MLB’s Ryan Zimmerman, NFL’s Devin Hester, U.S. Olympian Lindsey Jacobellis and downhill skier Lindsey Vonn as all these sportsmen have signed a similar contract with Under Armour.
