The MMA trained Bantamweight WEC fighter Frank Gomez has recently suffered an undisclosed injury during training that has now forced him to pull himself out from a previously scheduled bout at WEC 46 against Wagnney Fabiano. This injury shocker was first reported in Mauro Ranallo’s “The MMA Show” and MMASpark correspondents had later confirmed the news from sources close to the promotion. WEC authorities have decided to replace Fabiano’s opponent but the substitute fighter is yet to be decided. WEC 46 is scheduled to take place on January 10th, 2010 at ARCO Arena in Sacramento, California. The most interesting match on the event is going to be the Lightweight Title Unification Match between Benson Henderson and Jamie Varner.

Gomez had suffered a defeat in his WEC debut against Scott Jorgensen; the only loss recorded in his nine fight professional career. He recently had grabbed victory against Seth Dikun at WEC 44 in last November and was very confident to win the battle against Fabiano ahead. This three time WEC veteran has managed six of his eight career wins by stoppage. Meanwhile, it would have been the first match of Fabiano at 135 pounds category. The exact nature of Gomez’s injury has not been revealed yet, but the sources informed that he is expected to return in the spring of 2010
