The gap between a dream and reality is unbridgeable at times. Don’t believe me? Ask Brock Lesnar. This popular UFC athlete will not be able to participate in UFC 108 due to illness. He is suffering from a severe influenza and is not expected to recover before the New Year. He was scheduled to defend his title against Shane Carwin on January 2nd; but the match is pushed back even further as Brock is suffering from mononucleosis.
Shane Carwin certainly is not a happy man though he has earned a title shot. Last Wednesday, he was found pretty upset as he said, “Guys, my manager, Jason Genet, just told me that UFC 108 is not happening. Brock has mono and what the UFC has told me is that I have earned the title shot, but I have to wait for the titleholder,” as found in the blog on his official website.
Lesnar’s poor health condition is being confirmed by UFC President Dana White as he informed Lesnar will not be able to train for the next four to six weeks which makes the match impossible to take place. As the two other champions, light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida and middleweight champion Anderson Silva are already stuck with injuries, the UFC 108 may seriously suffer from financial debacle.
