Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson must recently have developed a habit of surprising people. He left most of his critics as well as the fans spellbound as he defeated Houston Alexander via unanimous decision. The fight was assumed to be a brawl as Kimbo is arguably considered the best street fighter in the world today. Instead it turned out to be a boring and almost disastrous UFC debut that Kimbo Slice ever expected. His opponent Houston Alexander is a onetime legend in UFC. So the match was expected to be an interesting one. But the fight doomed all expectations right in the beginning as in entire first round Houston wasted time by circling Kimbo while Kimbo kept on trying to close the distance. Slice took control in the second round as he scored multiple takedowns and attempted to finish the fight on the ground. Kimbo even attempted a rear-naked choke during one stage of the match but was not able to secure it fully. It wasn’t until the third round that these “destructive” strikers actually unloaded.

Kimbo had lost earlier to Roy Nelson during the season, but that was counted in the professional record of the fighter as it was considered an exhibition bout. The Saturday night show was, therefore, technically the UFC debut of Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson. His victory on Saturday against Alexander may or may not be considered an impressive battle; but it surely earned “Kimbo Slice” a future in the UFC and provided him with an opportunity to show the MMA world that he certainly made some improvement in his skills since The Ultimate Fighter reality show.
