Lauzon changes Gears for Stephens
With a span of about a couple of weeks left before Lauzon has a headlining match against Hermes Franca, he was thrown in curve ball as the proverb goes. This match is scheduled to take place on the Saturday at an UFC event Fight Night 17 and would be held in Tampa. His opponent Franca was taken out due to a torn ACL injury in his right knee and he was replaced by Jeremy Stephens as Lauzon’s opponent and this turn of events left Lauzon just a few days to prepare and also promptly re-tool his strategy. Lauzon seemed to be cool about all this and was ok with this decision. He later told “Beatdown” that happens to be Sherdog Radio Network show on Monday that a fight has to be taken as a fight and even though its kind of stupid that all the game-planned for the match against Hermes was wasted, but this sort of thing happens all the time. According to him, things could have been worse like he could have been injured and perhaps had to pull out from the match.
Lauzon had burst onto the UFC scene with a knockout victory over the ex-UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver and eventually had shocked a lot of people at the UFC 63 that took place in September 2006. Lauzon thinks that the fight with Stephens can be “easier.” than thought. The match with Hermes would have definitely been different yet he doesn’t care and he treats his present match like any other. Lauzon. further adds that in a match with Hermes it would have been easier for him to take him out as he knows the skills of Hermes and is well-acquainted with his moves. He says that Hermes possess great defense and at the same time he is really good with his feet.
