Fans loved their wrestling at UFC 104 and were excited to hear about the re match between Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. But, the UFC officials confirmed that the match will be postponed due to Machida’s hand injury. Machida had to undergo a surgery for complete cure of this left hand injury.

A few weeks ago at UFC 104, the match where Rua injured his hand, ended on a controversial note. Not only fans but the UFC president Dana White expressed disappointment over the outcome of the match. Later, Dana declared a rematch between the two.

The rematch was scheduled to take place on 2nd January at one of UFC’s traditional major events of the year at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Rua had agreed with the date but Machida’s injury postponed this match until full recovery of the injury.

It seems that most of the UFC title holders have been facing injuries off late. Previously, UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar withdrew from his match against Shane Carwin. Anderson Silva, the Middleweight champion also has been suffering with an elbow injury and it is still uncertain whether or not he will face Vitor Belfort on January. Welterweight Champion George St-Pierre has also been out of action for a long time with a torn abductor muscle. Only, BJ Penn seems to be an exception in this case. He has not re scheduled his bout against Diego Sanchez at UFC 106.
