Miguel Torres took birth on the 18th of January in the year 1981.Miguel Torres is a well known Mexican MMA performer. He is the one who competes and fights for WEC. WEC is also known as the World Extreme
Cagefighting organization. Miguel Torres currently the WEC champion of the Bantamweight category. Before taking part with the WEC, Miguel Torres did also hold the title of bantamweight for the organization of US Shooto. Torres has also been the former champion of the title of the Ironheart Crown. Miguel also specializes in the Jiu Jitsu of Brazilian form. Miguel Torres also has quite a strong Muay Thai fighting style. According to sources from UFC.com, Torres earned his black belt in Jiu Jitsu of the Brazilian form from Carlson Gracie, Jr in the month of September 2008.
Sherdog.com has ranked Torres as the #1 MMA performer in the Bantamweight category. This is a huge achievement as being the number one Bantamweight MMA fighter in the world takes a lot of effort as well as a severe bout of hard work. The site has also ranked Torres as the 6th best Pound for Pound MMA walking on the face of the earth.
Miguel has also extensively fought in several small events that were held in the North western part of Indiana. These matches were all held in many bars as well as pubs. As can be understood, the primary part of Miguel’s early career as a fighter has not been documented. Before Miguel signed on the dotted lines of the contract presented to him by the WEC, he has participitated and fought in many shows that took place in and around Chicago. These fighting tournaments also included Total Fight Challenge as well as the Ironheart Crown. Torres has successfully held his title in the bantamweight division in both the aforementioned organizations for many years. These matches and tournaments are all well documented.
Miguel Torres has been fighting for a long time and has established himself as a well known fighter in his chosen field. Torres has also sought tips as well as training from the late great Carlson Gracie, Senior. Carlson Gracie, Senior has well established as a trainer of innumerable world champions and it was Gracie who was the one to have immediately recognized the talent that Miguel possessed. Gracie took Torres under his wing and they flew off to Brazil. After reaching there, Torres publicly issued a challenge all the fighters of the world. Miguel Torres has also been the recipient of many offers that have provided him with an opportunity to fight tournaments overseas.
Torres did turn down several offers as they were not worth it and locally continued with his fighting career. September 5th of 2007 was his first fight in the WEC against Jeff Bedard, in which Torres won. Later Torres challenged Chase Beebe and eventually won the prestigious bantamweight belt.
Presently, he fights in the WEC and has defended his title several times. Torres also operates a MMA academy in Hammond, Indiana and teaches about 200 students.
