Penn and Florian at UFC 101
B.J. Penn is the Lightweight champion of UFC and he would soon be seen defending his crown title against the top contender Kenny Florian at UFC 101 that is supposed to be held in the 8th of August in Philadelphia. Penn’s opponent for the match Florian has already signed his side of the bout and according to the MMA blog. Penn plans to follow soon. Penn was heard saying that he is looking for the match himself as well.
Penn was last seen at the UFC 94 in the month of January and he lost that match to a technical knockout in a match against Georges St. Pierre the welterweight champion. This match took place in Las Vegas. This match had a controversial ending since the match Penn had filed a complaint with Nevada State Athletic Commission against St. Pierre. St.Pierre was alleged of using an illegal “greasing” agent. The officials of NSAC had also confirmed that the improprieties had taken place in St.Piere’s corner after the completion of both the first as well as second rounds.
Penn is regarded as one of UFC’s top performers and he returned to the lightweight division in the year 2007 and he had scored 3 victories in his divison. Penn had won matches against Jens Pulver, Joe Stevenson as well as Sean Sherk and also at the same time he holds many victories against performers like Caol Uno, Takanori Gomi, Renzo Gracie and even against the former UFC welterweight champions Matt Hughes as well as Matt Serra.
