Randy Couture, the Ageless Wonder Ready for yet another Title Shot

What can you say about a fighter who is approaching fifty in this hardcore physical business and still going strong? Sounds unbelievable, take a look at Randy Couture, a man who always had an uncanny tendency to defy all odds.

Randy is a UFC Hall of Famer and still hungry for the top spot. He has plans to re-emerge as a light heavyweight fighter as he, along with Brandon Vera, will star in the main event of UFC 105 in England for the title belt.

What makes you to keep it going, MMA Spark’s correspondent asked Randy prior to his upcoming match. His answer was simple and straight: “I would love to be a six-time UFC champion…” Randy believes the current light heavyweight division is full of magnificent, upcoming talents. But he is confident that he still has the tools to regain the light heavyweight title. His words may prove right as the experts believe the post-retirement Randy Couture looks a much better fighter than the one who hung up his gloves after being defeated by Chuck Liddell at UFC 57 in February, 2006. Though his record (2-2) looks pretty ordinary since his comeback in 2007, but he clearly dominated the two matches that he won.

His opponent, the 32 year old Brandon Vera has a promising record so far (7-3) at UFC. He considers it to be an honor to share the ring with a legend like Randy Couture. But he is also equally eager to defend his title successfully. Now only time can tell who will outperform the other as the two collide in the middle of the ring. No matter whoever wins the battle, it’s us, the fans who are sure to be the gainer.
