Roy Nelson Believes Experience Could Be Key Against Dos Santos

In his pre-fight interview with the UFC ahead of his August 7th clash with rising star Junior Dos Santos, TUF 10 champion Roy Nelson believes that his past experience could be a key factor.

“My advantage in this fight, I’d say it’s mental,” Nelson says. “It’s like, I’ve been through some tough losses, I’ve been through, just, some adversity, so hopefully I have a better chess game than he does.”

The former IFL champion recognizes that Dos Santos is a quality opponent, but like the Brazilian he sees this fight as a stepping stone towards his ultimate goal, with the winner of this bout believed to be next in line to fight the winner of UFC 121’s Brock Lesnar Vs Cain Velasquez title fight.

“Dos Santos is a phenomenal guy. I think, skill set, he’s that guy…but for myself, he’s a milestone to get to the belt,” he admits. “So, it’s a big win, but is it the ultimate goal, would I be happy? Yes I’d be happy, but would I be satisfied? No, because at the end of the day when I win I’m still chasing something, I’m still going after that belt.”
