Tyson Griffin’s pain is now proved to be Sean Sherk’s gain! At least, so says the current circumstances. UFC authorities recently declared that Tyson Griffin is now out of his UFC 108 bout due to a severe injury and he is going to be replaced with Sean Sherk to face Jim Miller in the event. The main event of the UFC 108 will feature a fight between Rashad Evans and Thiago Silva and will determine the No. 1 contender’s spot for the Light Heavyweight Title.

Sherk was previously planned to face Rafaello Oliveira in one of the preliminary matches of the evening. But Griffin’s injury caused several changes in the plan; the authorities are now looking for a suitable candidate as a replacement opponent for Oliveira. Sherk had faced a disappointing loss this year against Frankie Edgar at UFC 98. It was his only bout in 2009 and he failed to impress. He had proved his worth earlier when he defeated Hermes Franca in 2007 to defend his UFC title but was not able to draw much attention under this brand. Miller, meanwhile, is looking confident after his recent victory over Gray Maynard at UFC 96 in March 2009. He has earned both a “Fight of the Night” and “Submission of the Night” award during his five-fight UFC run and his match against Sherk is bound to be an interesting one. “UFC 108: Evans vs. Silva” will take place on January 2nd in Las Vegas and airs live on pay per view.
