Spencer vs. Ludwig for UFC on Versus 1
Versus 1 event is going to experience a very special match as UFC has booked a Lightweight match between the veterans Duane “Bang” Ludwig and Spencer Fisher. The event is scheduled to take place on March 21st, 2010 at the Odeum Colorado in Broomfield, Colorado and the main card of the night will be aired on Versus. The match was being speculated by the fans for a while now and in a recent personal discussion, a source close to one of the competitors has stated that the match is on and the bout agreements are in the process of being finalized.
World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC), a sister promotion of UFC has signed an extended deal with Versus and this show is the first among the two 2010 UFC events to be aired on the cable station. Fisher was happy with his three consecutive wins until he faced a setback in UFC 104 where he lost to Joe Stevenson by second-round submission. This longtime UFC fighter was on a roll and a victory against Stevenson would have earned him a title-shot consideration. He, however, now plans to launch another winning streak and he has Ludwig to start with. This Denver native will have an extra edge during the match as he will be fighting in front of his hometown crowd. It’s an important match of his career as it will be his first bout after returning from a four-year exile. A defeat at this stage of his career may bring an end to his UFC career.
