UFC 106: Weigh-Ins Scheduled on 20th November

The UFC 106 is gradually heating up as the weigh-ins for their next show, “UFC 106: Ortiz vs. Griffin II,” will take place on Friday, 20th November, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, Las Vegas. The same venue is also housing the upcoming pay-per-view event on the following day. This UFC event is headlined with a rematch between the former champions Forrest Griffin and Tito Ortiz. Just like any other weigh-in function of UFC, this one will also begin at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT). It is open to the public and moreover, it’s free.

Previously, the scheduled main event for this show was the UFC Heavyweight Championship between the top contender Shane Carwin and the champ Brock Lesner. But as the injury sidelined Lesner for quite a long period of time; UFC decided to promote the next big match for the night’s top spot: the battle of two great performers Ortiz and Griffin. Ortiz (15-6-1 MMA, 14-6-1 UFC) and Griffin (16-6 MMA, 7-4 UFC), both have an impressive record. They first met in 2006 at UFC 59. It was Griffin’s 4th UFC fight and put the former champ in some serious pressure. Though the experience of Ortiz prevailed in the match as Griffin suffered a narrow loss (30-27, 28-29, 29-27), the first ever defeat inside the octagon.

The UFC officials scheduled a new fight between Josh Koscheck and Anthony Johnson and promoting it as the co-main event. These two fighters have created some serious impact in the welterweight division.

The UFC Fight Club Members will have a Question and Answer session prior to the weigh-ins. MMASpark never misses such opportunities. We will be there live and report on the day’s event with the photographs of the proceedings.
