UFC 108 has already started to draw some attention as it has booked the UFC newcomer Gilbert Yvel in a match against Junior Dos Santos on the main card. The sources confirmed that verbal agreements are already settled for this match on the upcoming January 2nd event at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas; but the bout is yet to be officially signed. Dos Santos was previously scheduled to fight against Gabriel Gonzaga whose staph infection forced UFC authority to replace him with Yvel.

Yvel is a veteran fighter and used to compete for PRIDE. He has an impressive 8-1 win record over his last 9 fights and 7 of them via knockout. He lost only against Josh Barnett in last January. Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) had denied the fighter a license in 2007 due to his attack on referee in 2004 while in action against Atte Backman. The authority, however, has recently issued a one-fight license against him that allows Yvel a chance to prove his worth once again. Dos Santos, on the other hand, has been very impressive in UFC as he quickly climbed up the ranks in UFC Heavyweight Division. This 25 years old fighter had 3 consecutive stoppage victories recently and is a hard nut to crack.
