Every other professional sport has its own share of collectibles as well as memorabilia and MMA is also not an exception. To cast an example if Baseball legend Mark McGwire’s 70th homerun baseball can be sold off for an amount as high as $2.7 million or Wayne Gretzky’s hockey jerseys ropes in a total of $145,000, it can be easily said that such memorabilia are good business and MMA as well as UFC want to piggy bank on that success too.
The UFC industry simply says that if any sport has its own share or rather own chain of memorabilia, then UFC which is recognized as a popular combat sport should only justifiably have its own chain of memorabilia as well. In the year 2007 according to a survey the entire industry sports memorabilia made around a sum that is estimated to be around $2 billion. As has been mentioned before, UFC has also come up with its own range of merchandise that can be bought and collected by the fans of this sport.
Recently there was an official release of the UFC trading cards by a company called Topps and there is news about the upcoming release of the third installment series that comprises 5 Collectibles figurines of the UFC stars and there is also an announcement of the release of a host of many autographed items as well as the release of the original artwork of MMA stars is also in the pipeline. Thus MMA wishes to grab the attention of the memorabilia market with its release of customized stuff.
