WEC 45: An Instant Hit with “Bonus Showers”
Anthony Njokuani, Brad Pickett, Ed Ratcliff, Donald Cerrone, Scott Jorgensen and Takeya Mizugaki of WEC seem to have got their Christmas present a little early! They all have earned fight night bonuses for their incredible performance in “WEC 45: Cerrone vs. Ratcliff” event on last Saturday. Jorgensen and Mizugaki were awarded with a second “Fight of the Night” award and received $ 5,000 each. The first “Fight of the Night” was awarded to Cerrone and Ratcliff. Pickett was the winner of “Submission of the Match” award and Njokuani earned the “Knockout of the Night” award. All these awards were worth $ 10,000.
WEC informed the media about the winners and the prize money during the post-fight press conference that took place in The Pearl at palm Casino Resort in Las Vegas. The conference was also aired on Versus. Cerrone and Ratcliff were the deserving winners of the “Fight of the Night” award; but the match between Mizugaki and Jorgensen was very close to win the title as well. Njokuani was simply brutal during his fight against Chris Horodecki and many of the fans believe it is the best ever performance in his career. Pickett, on the other hand, made his WEC debut in style by beating his opponent Kyle Dietz and also winning the “Submission of the Night” award in his first performance in a WEC ring.
